Area Pended Home Sales Go Up Into Fall Season Pended home sales (signed real estate agreements) in October 2005 remained solid in Marion County and the surrounding eight counties. Despite normal downturns in the fall months, pended home sales climbed 8.8 percent from the same month last year. October pended sales equaled 2,468 homes, a 199-home increase from October 2004. Year-to-date sales have also increased, up 5.0 percent across central Indiana . “October proved to be a solid month for area real estate,” H. James Litten, president of F.C. Tucker's Residential Real Estate Services Division, said. “The unseasonably warm weather likely played a factor, as the market generally slows as the weather turns colder.” Marion County experienced a marked increase, 17.1 percent, from October 2004 to October 2005. The area's most populous county also showed a solid 6.2 percent year-to-date increase. Meanwhile, Hendricks County once again leads the region in year-to-date sales increases (12.4 percent). A stark contrast to last month, Shelby County experienced the most significant monthly decrease, with 11.8 percent fewer home sales than in October 2004 ( Shelby County was up 38.6 percent in September). Nationally, pended home sales in September slipped slightly from August, but are still at the second highest level on record. The National Association of Realtors' Pending Home Sales Index, released Nov. 3, showed pended sales 3.3 percent higher than September 2004. The Midwest was up 0.3 percent in September 2005 and was 0.4 percent below September 2004.
