Pended Home Sales Continue to Rise in 9-County Region
Shelby County leads the way in September with 38.6-percent jump

Pended home sales (signed real estate agreements) in September 2005 inched up 3.4 percent from the same month last year for Marion County and the surrounding eight counties. September pended sales totaled 2,469 homes, an increase of 82 homes versus September 2004. Year-to-date sales have also increased, up 4.3 percent across the nine-county region.

“This is favorable growth for this time of year,” H. James Litten, president of F.C. Tucker's Residential Real Estate Services Division said. “While the colder months will likely slow the rate of growth, central Indiana real estate is strong heading into fall.”

Shelby County boasted the largest increase in monthly home sales, 38.6 percent, from September 2004 to September 2005, but Hendricks County continues to lead the region in year-to-date sales increases (12.8 percent). Hancock County again experienced the most significant monthly decrease, with 25.5 percent fewer home sales than in September 2004.
